Skirt making workshop

I went on a day sewing workshop and made a basic high waisted gathered skirt. I've made it to fit my body so I look forward to wearing it!

Life Drawing

Photoshop Designs

Using Photoshop, I took my sample and a theatrical image and used them to design different costumes through photo editing.

Deconstruct Reconstruct

For this project I have decided to deconstruct and reconstruct a video tape into a costume for the Evil Queen from Snow White. I have decided to design and make a shoulder/collar piece to wear over a dress. The reason for this is because a large, dark collar would be good or stage as it would stand out. A large collar is often used for Halloween costumes such as Dracula which gives an evil atmosphere to the costume.
I have experimented with the video tape by pinning it on the mannequin for ideas.

Millinery Workshop

Making a fascinator based on the story, 'Alice in Wonderland'.
The photo edits were just me messing around, tehe.

Deconstruct Reconstruct

In groups of 3-4, we were given a man's shirt and told to take it apart and reconstruct it into something modern in approximately 1 hour. My group and I felt it was important not to overdo it as the material was already striped so lots of decoration would give too much for the eye to look at and may look tacky.

Self-initiated project - Final Pieces

With special thanks to my model, Laura Bourne.

Self-initiated project

For my self-initiated project I decided to design costumes for one of my favourite ballets, Swan Lake. I completed primary research on surfaces and textures, which led to secondary research on Matthew Bourne's interpretation of Swan lake and research into costume designers and fashion illustration.
I thoroughly enjoyed this project and hopefully will go down the fashion, costume and textiles pathway for the next stage of my art and design foundation diploma.
Here is an example of some of the project work.

Knitting!

I've recently just learnt to knit and find it very addictive! So proud of myself when I made a blanket!

Surface and Texture 2

November 2011
Using your drawing exploration, you will now be required to produce a series of designs for a specific client. This will lead to making a 3D wearable piece for your client.

I used my drawing exploration to design a repeat print and experiemented with fashion illustration. My given client was Karen Elson so I used her musical background to design costume wear for her music video, 'The ghost who walks'. I look at transparent and cold materials whilst keeping to her very beautiful and elegant look.

Colour

October 2011
Taking an object and a colour and use photography to express a mood of your choice. A series of 3 photographs must be completed.
I decided to use a kitchen knife and create a tranquil mood through photography using the colour yellow. I felt the contrast between quite a distressful object and a peaceful mood would be challenging but would prove that colour can effect the mood of anything.
